Artist's Description

This "Inukshuk" is one of dozens that dot the rocky landscape of the Canadian Shield as you drive along TransCanada Highway, north of Barrie, Ontario. Traditional stone markers such as these are found throughout the Arctic regions. Those shaped to resemble a human form are called "inunnguaq" - one of which is incorporated into the logo for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. These stone structures have come to be recognized in Canadian culture as symbols of welcome and friendship. You'll find a very informative short video about Inuksuit (plural) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKQ97rOwBH0

At the same time I began taking pictures with the intent of using them as reference for future...
