Thanks so much for your kind comment, Kathy! At the end of the season I removed the almost weightless nest and kept it (still in my garage) for heaven only knows what reason!! It is fascinating to be sure.

It has been so fascinating to watch them every day, totally oblivious to my presence (behind a window of course) within mere inches of their work. I did an online search and now can even identify their markings. The stripey patterns, I learned, are from different kinds of wood they chew into pulp for their building material. What an awesome experience to have them so up close and personal!
